Gasworks Arts Park is a community arts precinct that is sited within the remaining walls of the South Melbourne gas production plant. The parklands are surrounded by artists’ studios, theatre, galleries and workshops which are in constant use.  

The park is owned by the City of Port Phillip and leased to Gasworks management; a community based not-for-profit group which co-ordinates the annual program of events and exhibitions. The market started in January 2006 and co-ordinates fortnightly with Veg Out.
