SOUTHERN GIPPSLAND ON A PLATE
The Koonwarra Farmers' Market was founded in November 2000 by a network of South Gippsland growers and specialty food producers. The monthly market is set in a beautiful park which provides a relaxed atmosphere, ideal for a picnic. Chairs and tables are provided. On wet and cold days the market uses the adjoining hall for many of the stalls. Customers be assured that the event is always held regardless of weather.
The amazing ramge of produce comes from the southern Gippsland region and is available on a seasonal bases. Grab a coffee and browse through the fresh veggies and fruit (both chemical free and organic), honey, bread, wine, cheese, a huge range of cakes, bush flowers, fruit trees, roses, herbs, preserves, sauces, fresh oceon fish, blueberries, olive oil, apple strudles, exotic plants, heritage apples, free range meat beef/lamb/pork/poultry, garlic, mushrooms, potted herbs, peppermint tea, beer, fresh berries, jams & frozen delights, free range eggs, curry puffs and much more.
This regional farmers market has maintained a policy of product authenticity since its inception featuring only the best local produce from the region. Organic and chemical free food production is actively encouraged for a sustainable farming future.
The Koonwarra village is both contemporary and rural and only one and a half hours drive from Melbourne
Koonwarra is now joined by three other accredited Farmers Markets in the southern Gippsland region. Coal Creek (Korumburra) is held on the 2nd Satuday, Prom Country (Foster) 3rd Saturday and Inverloch Community Farmers market on the last Sunday every month.
